Frederick Douglass High School Concert – Lexington, KY – Friday, June 2, 7:00 pm
A free Friday evening family-friendly concert, featuring American and jazz favorites by John Phillips Sousa, John Williams, Scott Joplin, Aaron Copland, and Glen Miller will be performed by more than 60 members of The All-American Alumni Band. The concert is headlined by alumnus Band member, renowned jazz musician, composer, recording artist, and educator Wycliffe Gordon. Jazz arrangements by Gordon including “Me/We,” “We’re Still Here,” “Savannah Song,” and more will be performed with select members of The All-American Alumni Band.
The concert will feature newly appointed principal conductor Russel C. Mikkelson, acclaimed Director of Bands at The Ohio State University. These concerts mark Dr. Mikkelson’s debut as principal conductor of The All-American Alumni Band
